Marco is a San Diego based yoga instructor and freelance photographer who blends creativity, movement, and mindful presence in everything he does. Originally from just outside New York City, he spent time in Los Angeles working in entertainment before relocating to San Diego, where yoga became his anchor during the COVID shutdown. Now devoted to hot vinyasa and teacher training, he also shoots black and white film and develops his work in the darkroom. Thirteen years sober, Marco believes in support, consistency, and the simple wisdom to keep coming back.

Welcome to Gentle Yoga for Sciatica Relief with Marco! This targeted beginner-friendly session is designed specifically for anyone experiencing lower back pain, tightness, and symptoms of sciatica. Moving slowly and mindfully, this practice focuses on gentle mobility for the hips and targeted stretches to create space around the sciatic nerve, relieving compression and promoting deep relaxation.

We begin lying down to ground the lower back and incorporate gentle twists and pelvic tilts to wake up the spine. The sequence moves into essential Figure Four poses, Half Frog, and Pigeon to open the glutes and outer hips—key areas for sciatica relief. The class concludes with restorative poses and a seated meditation to reinforce core stability and calm the nervous system.

*Please Note: You may want a cushion, bolster, or block for added support. If you are experiencing acute pain, listen closely to your body and avoid any deep compression or aggressive stretching. 

This program will help you:

  • Release tension in the lower back, hips, and glutes.

  • Decompress the sciatic nerve through gentle stretches.

  • Improve mobility in the pelvic region.

  • Strengthen core stability to support the lumbar spine
