Hi friends, it’s Onyx here. I’m shooting with True Naked Yoga for the second time and last time you saw me, I was coming to you from San Diego whereas now I’m living in LA and I’ve been here for about six months and so far it’s been really great.
What made you decide to move to LA?
A big reason why I wanted to move to LA is because I found I was traveling here weekend after weekend for various photo shoots and opportunities and with that being said, it is the land of opportunity. So I ended up sending it and have been here for quite a while now, and it has done exactly that. It’s opened so many doors for me. It’s been so wonderful being closer to my LA fam and following the opportunities that arise as they do. A lot of modeling recently and also a lot of live streaming. That’s been super fun doing more cooking in the kitchen and yoga, of course. We’re always flowing, growing.
Have you faced any challenges since moving here?
I will say since living here, there have been a few challenges. One of those being the fires that we recently experienced. I found that as soon as I came here and got settled, so much of what took place led me to feeling very ungrounded and I actually had to go back to San Diego for some time until the air quality improved a bit. But now that I’m back, I am feeling really good about being in this space with people that I really love and care about. However, I do intend on relocating in May to somewhere much more tropical, where I don’t have to worry about wildfires taking place. I have a few different spots in mind. One of those being Bali, Indonesia and another Australia. There’s good stuff on the horizon, I’m very excited for all that’s to come. Stay tuned.
You’re friends with Naomi, right? What has it been like shooting with her today?
Today I’m here with my friend Naomi and it was really ironic that we’re shooting together as I saw her name on the schedule, but I didn’t put the connection together as I actually didn’t even know she was going to be in town. Our mutual friend Steph put her into this lineup and sure enough, we ended up coming here together today. It’s also been such a treat seeing her connect with the True Naked Yoga fam today. She’s doing her flow now and so it’s fun to witness her as she’s very much an experienced yogi. I’m so excited for you all to check out her flows.
What’s on the horizon in your future?
Coming up, I’ve got a few things in the works. I know I mentioned that I’ll be relocating somewhere beautiful tropical abroad, but I’m also looking to launch my first cookbook, which I’m so stoked about. It’s been a passion project of mine for the past few years. And I feel that the only thing holding me up from publishing it was the food photography because there’s an entire production behind the scenes. And I see my friends who are very tech savvy and have access to all these incredible tools and whatnot. And since I’m not as tech savvy, I’ve struggled a little bit. But all that being said, I trust that my timeline will align perfectly and that it will come to fruition this summer. In addition, I do have a Patreon I’m putting together, and that’ll be a compilation of all the professionally shot photos I’ve taken over the years. Basically a big modeling portfolio that I’ll be making accessible to the public and also showcasing photographers’ work as I feel it’s really important that they’re all properly accredited. And so that’s passion project number two. I am really looking forward to moving abroad. And whenever the time comes where True Naked Yoga reaches out, [that will be a] perfect excuse to come back to the States, say what up to all the homies and of course visit fam and make some magic together.
