In this edition of Yogis Uncovered, we catch up with the free-spirited and adventurous Juliet! A lifelong nature lover from Sedona, Juliet shares how her path led from studying biology to becoming an international art model, content creator, and now a yoga teacher. We dive into her deep connection with nude yoga, her passion for mindful living, and the philosophy that shapes her life.

It’s just so freeing and you have to face yourself. You see everything about yourself when you’re doing naked yoga. And it goes deeper and deeper into that space of really accepting yourself and everything that you are in that moment.

My name is Juliet and I live in Sedona, Arizona.

Where are you from originally and what was it like growing up there?

I originally grew up just outside of Sedona and it’s very desert-y and dry. In order to enjoy living there, you have to really enjoy being outside and doing outdoor activities. Growing up I spent a lot of time camping and hiking and swimming in the creek. Doing cliff jumping and just exploring all of the nature and trails in the area where I’m from.

What do you do for work?

I am a full-time freelance art nude model and I travel the country and the world doing different photo shoots and art projects. I’m also a content creator and I have several different online platforms where I share my nude photography and also just my nude lifestyle and do live streaming as well.

What drew you to that line of work?

I never thought that I would become a model, but I was in college and I was studying science. I got my degree in biology. I thought I wanted to be a field biologist. And then I decided I wanted to start taking art classes. And I took a figure drawing session. And as soon as I saw the model, it was her first time modeling, I was so inspired to do it that I started modeling for artists right away. and it just led to more and more work. When I moved to LA, there were tons of modeling opportunities and I did acting and worked in the film industry behind camera as well. With modeling, people wanted to hire me more. It was easier to get that work. And I found that I didn’t have to live in LA for that and that I could travel. So I moved back home and now I travel all over for it.

Were you always this comfortable being nude in front of others or was it a process?

I’ve pretty much always been comfortable being nude in front of others. I was encouraged by my parents just to be free and feel comfortable in my own skin. But the art modeling definitely helped because I was modeling for my peers and my classmates in college and I had to get over any discomfort of feeling squeamish being nude in front of others. And so it became just second nature after that.

Do you find that people judge you about the nude aspect of your work?

I think when people ask about my work, I usually will kind of feel out the situation, and if I feel like there might be some judgment. I may not mention that I’m a nude model. I’m a little bit slow to warm up to people, so I will usually ease into that subject. But I think more and more over the years that I’ve been doing this, I just am more and more comfortable. And if someone doesn’t like it, that’s not really my problem. It’s more of a “them” issue. So if they want to ask questions and they’re curious, then we can talk more about it. And if not, they’ll usually change the subject.

How did you get into yoga?

I’ve been doing yoga since I was a little girl. My stepmother was a yoga teacher and I took my first yoga class when I was nine years old. But over the years, I just was sort of in and out of yoga and dabbled in different classes, but I was doing trail running pretty regularly in Arizona and I had an ankle injury. I started doing hot yoga in September of last year, of 2024, just to find a different kind of extreme. I love heat and I live in Arizona and I do hot yoga in the summer. I’m kind of crazy like that, but I just needed something different from trail running just to let my ankle heal. and I absolutely fell in love with the studio where I was going, and so I took the yoga teacher training with that studio in April of this year, and I’ve started teaching my first few classes there, and I absolutely love it. I just keep studying and getting more and more in depth into the yoga philosophy and different styles and yoga anatomy, I just love absolutely everything about it.

What added benefits do you experience from the nude aspect of naked yoga?

I love nude yoga for so many reasons. One is that a lot of the yoga clothing that we wear is made out of synthetic fibers and materials. And I love wearing cotton or anything natural. And sometimes those materials aren’t really great for hot yoga that I do. And if I can take everything off, I don’t feel restricted in my clothing. I don’t feel that I’m in contact with any synthetic materials. And it’s just so freeing and you have to face yourself. You see everything about yourself when you’re doing naked yoga. And it goes deeper and deeper into that space of really accepting yourself and everything that you are in that moment.

If you could have dinner with anyone living or dead, who would it be?

I never got to meet my maternal grandmother. I’ve heard some pretty interesting stories. She was quite the colorful and creative character. So I would love to have dinner with my grandmother.

What is a personal philosophy that you try to live by?

One of the personal philosophies I try to live by is being really present and in the moment, life is so short and the moments are so fleeting and the things that we get to create are hopefully going to last into future generations and looking back on the photography and all of the like pin-up and nude photography of the past, it’s so cool to see that and see these beautiful photos and when I get to create those I always feel just the sense of honor that I’m hopefully adding to this artistic and creative history for the future. And that feeling really I try to extend into everything in my life and because I know that I will look back on all of my past moments in my life and just feel like really like, wow, that was an era and that was such a time and just to really enjoy it and appreciate it in the moment and live moment to moment as much as I can, which yoga is very helpful with as well.
