I think it’s incredibly important to do a lot of self-care. I think you’re only able to put so much good into this world if you are not giving yourself that same energy.

Please tell us about yourself!

Hi, my name is Jade Monet! I was born in a small suburb right above Portland, Oregon in Washington, but I moved to Portland when I was sixteen and I’ve been there since.

What’s a funny memory you have from growing up?

Me and my two best friends, we used to grab a twin mattress and a bunch of pillows and put them at the top of a staircase and slide down the stairs. And one time we just got a little too crazy and my head went through a wall and we lied to our parents about what happened.

How long have you been doing yoga and how did you get into yoga?

I’ve been doing yoga for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been some sort of dancer or gymnast and so stretching has been super important to me always, but I would say around

eight years old I got into yoga to help with my mental health.

What are the mental health benefits that you experience from doing yoga?

It really helps me focus on each individual muscle that I’m using to hold a pose, and when you’re focusing that much on something physically it just really clears your head. I incorporate yoga into my daily routine and I definitely feel a difference if I don’t do it.

What do you like about doing yoga naked?

It’s very freeing and you’re not being restricted by any type of clothing or anything and I feel like I’m more productive and more efficient at doing yoga, but it’s a great experience. I recommend it to everybody.

What’s your favorite yoga pose?

Probably child’s pose after today. That was my rest and relaxation pose.

Why do you practice yoga and other forms of self-care?

I think it’s incredibly important to do a lot of self-care. I think you’re only able to put so much good into this world if you are not giving yourself that same energy.

What was it like working with TNY today?

This has got to be one of the most like well organized, well thought out and overall professional shoots I’ve ever done and I would recommend it to anybody.

What advice would you give to yourself when you started Yoga?

To not get discouraged or to not compare my progress to anybody except myself. When you compare yourself to other people, you’re just gonna get very discouraged, but when you compare yourself to who you were or what you were doing a few years ago, that’s the only way to go about it.

How’d you become comfortable while being naked?

It kind of just came naturally to me. Modeling is definitely how I became comfortable naked and it’s also helped me learn in ways that the naked body doesn’t always have to be sexualized. Like this is just our flesh form, I suppose. And that’s why I love what I do because it’s made me realize that my body is art.

What’s your favorite food?

A cheeseburger is my favorite food. I have a tradition where after a very long day of shooting (probably today I will get one), it’s like the best after shoot food.

What’s your favorite movie or show that you’ve been watching lately?

Favorite movie is The Great Gatsby, and my favorite show is Breaking Bad.

Would you say you’re more of a homebody or extrovert?

I would say I’m like a mixture of both. I definitely have a very extroverted side of me, but it has a time limit and when that time limit runs out I definitely isolate myself until I’m feeling like myself again.

What did you think about the programs you did today?

I thought they were all very unique and different from each other and I really enjoyed every single one of them. The Pilates definitely had me sweating.

What’s the motto that you live by?

Treat others the way you wish to be treated.

Where can we follow your work online?

I would say the best outlet to find more out about me is through my Instagram at @jade.monettt
