Total Beginner Yoga Series | Day 2: Standing Poses with Kelelah
Total Beginner Yoga Series | Day 2: Standing Poses with Kelelah
Welcome to Total Beginner Yoga Series | Day 2: Standing Poses with Kelelah. If you are entirely new to yoga or have felt rushed in standard classes, this progressive four-part series provides the patient guidance, structural breakdown, and practical adjustments you need to practice with confidence. Each day methodically explores essential mechanics, alignment principles, and breathing patterns across sun salutations, standing postures, and seated shapes.
In this second session, Kelelah guides you through foundational standing postures designed to cultivate lower body strength, balance, and joint stability. You will begin with gentle spinal mobilization, including standing Cat-Cow and kidney taps, before anchoring into your steady Ujjayi breath. From there, you’ll work on key standing shapes: Warrior I, Warrior II, Extended Side Angle, and Pyramid Pose. You will learn how to use yoga blocks to lengthen the spine, adjust your foot placement to protect your knees and lower back, and explore accessible balancing variations in Tree Pose using a wall or chair for support.
*For this program we recommend using two yoga blocks for support.
This foundational practice is designed to help you:
Build lower body strength and joint stability through essential standing postures like Warrior One and Warrior Two
Protect your knees and lower back by learning proper foot placement, pelvic alignment, and how to use blocks effectively
Develop functional balance and focus with accessible, step-by-step variations of Tree Pose
Namaste!

Raised along the coastal beaches of the Philippines, Kelelah spent her childhood living in a nipa hut, running barefoot through the jungle, and swimming carefree in the ocean. A creative entrepreneur, abstract artist, and pole dancer, she is also a passionate cinephile with a deep fascination for neuroscience and the mechanics of the brain.
Her relationship with movement deepened a decade ago during a difficult divorce and the disorienting transition of immigrating to a new country. Turning to somatic practice helped her quiet severe anxiety, dismantle the habit of comparing herself to others, and rebuild her physical autonomy. For Kelelah, shedding clothing is an unhurried return to self-acceptance, grounded in her core belief that choosing love over fear is the only way to truly live.
